Impulse buying. I'm guilty. I used to go shopping with my Gram when I was little. One of her favorite things to do was walk around the mall, work up an appetite, and get lunch somewhere. It quickly became MY favorite thing to do too. My Grandmother never spent beyond her means. If she had the money, and she felt like buying "it" then she'd get it. Some times hiding the bags in the car until she could sneak it past my Grandfather. (he never cared if she shopped...so I don't know why she did that.) She was also very generous. Always "picking something up for you"...with no strings attached. My mom inherited that trait too. We used to walk around a store...she'd grab an item, a blouse or a pair of pants, and HOLD ON TO IT all the way thru the store. Stopping to hang it up, stretch it out, feel the fabric, ponder. Sometimes, it would end up at the other end of the store because she'd change her mind by the end of the trip. I used to get a kick out of it, and I'd tease her. She had a great sense of humor. What I know NOW, is that she was controlling her shopping habits. Making sure she was being rational about her purchases. NOT IMPULSE buying. It was a valuable lesson, that I don't even think she realized she was teaching me. I miss her.
This skirt is an example of one of my impulse buys. I didn't adhere to the lesson with this purchase. I had to buy it. It was cheap, and I have never seen another like it. I figure I'd wear it on a date night with the Husby, on a hot summer night. I loved all the studs and beading, and especially the curved hem. (we've established that I'm a "curved hem junkie" already) The skirt comes in three colors...I chose the nude hue. I paired it with a slouchy knit tank I got years back..I bought all three colors it came in, because it THE BEST tank for layering, and comfort. I think my Gram would say "well don't YOU look cute?!."
